Verizon DSL

I'm switching my DSL provider to Verizon in order to save some money.

I just got the notification from Verizon that my DSL connection is ready. So I plugged everything in, but when I ran the Account Setup program, it complained that I don't have administrative rights (do too!) and refused to do anything.

Wait time on Verizon's phone support is over 30 minutes. I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

The problem is almost certainly something specific to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. I really don't need to run Verizon's software, but I need to somehow create an account so that I can connect.

Update: I did get this resolved.

I found your blog entry while looking in Google for the same problem. My son, who was previously a Verizon DSL customer, moved from PA to VA and is now trying to do a Verizon DSL installation in his new home. He had to wait a week after being hooked up to receive the Macintosh install disk only to find out it doesn't work. The disk has a 2004 date on it. Doesn't Verizon plan to sell DSL to any new Mac customers?

Seriously, I wonder how to connect with an updated utility from Verizon withou this problem. My son called Verizon's tech support line and was put on hold for 20 min before being disconnected.
